At Universidade do Minho the minimum recommended language levels are B1 for Portuguese and B2 for English.
At our institution most course units are taught in Portuguese and students are expected to be fluent enough to be able to follow them. There are some specific study areas with lectures offered in English, but it is a minority. For courses formally taught in Portuguese there might be the possibility to have access to bibliography, course materials, tutorial support and assessment in English. Exams can be held in another language depending on agreement between the student and the lecturer. There can also be the option to develop research/project work with supervision in English or in a common language between the student and the supervisor.
