 UMinho Electives

The creation of the UMinho Electives aims to promote the development of transversal knowledge, considered fundamental for the full training of students as people, citizens and professionals, thus contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals.

UMinho Electives work on a semester basis, in the 1st or 2nd semesters, as per the course syllabus. Every year a variable number of courses is offered by different schools/institutes.

The enrolment in Option UMinho is held at the Academic Portal simultaneously with the registration process in the school year.

The selection of course units within the UMinho Electives is carried out simultaneously with the enrolment process in the academic year in question, and the vacancies for those course units are filled on a first come, first served basis. 
During the enrolment process, a course unit of the UMinho Electives must be selected within the list of course units with available vacancies at that moment. 
The course units within the UMinho Electives are offered in both campuses (Gualtar and Azurém) and they operate on a daytime regime and evening schedule.
In order to guarantee enrolment in the desired course unit, students should enrol in the academic year in question as soon as possible.

It is mandatory to consult the enrollment in the Academic Portal after 2 working days from the close of the enrollment period in order to validate the enrollment in the academic year and in the UMinho Electives. If the enrollment in the UMinho Electives has been canceled, students must choose a new CU with a vacancy available, within 5 working days, accessing again at the Registrations module in the Academic Portal, and choosing another option with vacancies available for registration.

We remind you that the optional course units that do not have a minimum of 20 students enrolled do not meet the required conditions to operate.

Since the Academic Management Services regularly update/correct enrolment processes due to pending administrative processes (accreditation processes, grade registers, enrolment processes after deadline, amongst others), students should regularly check their enrolment process in this Portal.
